I’m sure some of our visitors have noticed already but this is just a head’s up. We’ve rebuilt and expanded on our old Mississippi River water level info page. It’s available below the forum listings for the Mississippi River. We’ve combined some info and listed all the guage stations from Red wing south to Guttenburg, IA. Not all areas will have all the info at any one time. Nothing we can do about that. But this should serve as a very quick reference page for those wondering about river levels, flow and the rate of rise and fall in river levels over the last 24 hours.

It looks great. For us “southerners” I hope down the road you could include to maybe Muscatine or Burlington. I know there are a lot of changes lately so I only asking that it might get put on the to-do list for future upgrade.

    Thanks,

    James,

Any chance we can tap into the Army Core of Engineers site for Pool 2 water level info?

We need to locate text files that have the right info and consistently “sit” in the same location for us to be able to do this.

I’ll do some digging to see if I can find something on pool 2 and south of 10. I’ve NOT been able to find that before in the past but a guy never really knows until he rolls up his sleeves.

We can’t grab the info from tha tpage, easily. What we’re looking for is a text file. waterlevelsforpool2.txt for example. Won’t be anything but plain text on a white page. We can rip that up and pull the needed info from that type of source.

James, thanks much. Water levels and flows are critical for me, especially at this time of the year. A few feet up or down makes such a differance in where we locate Walleyes in the pools south of Pool 4. This is a handy reference.

    James-
You could pull THIS info. I’m not sure how you guys have things setup on your end, but I’m guessing you are accessing a daily feed, and then ripping it on your end. The feed above is different, because its not a physical file being generated for download, but could be made to work. If your interested, let me know I can can figure out the details.
I could get something working for the site that Steve provided as well, just need to look at it some more.
