what a great weekend to be on the river…i drive over 200 miles to fish pool 4 and am greeted with urine-poor weather…boat control was near zero and there was white caps on the back-channel…we did manage a few fish but nothing much…on a more interesting note…we were trolling some raps on saturday about 300 yards above the power line, more watching the air show than anything…well one of those old planes flies over and it is sputtering real bad…i looked at my two buddies and we chuckled how he was going to crash…well about 30 min. later we hear sirens coming from over by the airport and the planes stop flying….now we think, holy cow, maybe he did crash..as we ate supper that night we heard on the news that the pland DID in fact crash not too far away….hope the pilot pulls through, but what a weird occurance, to actually have the plane go directly overhead and hear it sputter…wow

I was also on the back channel saturday watchin the air show (fishin sucked ). Awesome show……and we sure had front row seats.

Never noticed the plane go down, but heard on the news that night that there had been a crash and, unfortunatly, the pilot didn’t make it. The strange thing was that my buddy and I were also joking about how crazy it would be if one of the planes would go down in mudlake and we would be the first rescuers on the scene. Guess we shouldn’t joke about that kind of stuff.

I’ve got a feelin that the next week to 10 days (At least) may also be VERY SLOW, by looking at the Army Corps of Engineers web site. River levels in the Minnesota are expected to continue to rise quite a bit. Pools 2,3 for sure are going to be very difficult to fish as there are already Large limbs, sticks, you name it, coming down the river. Another 2-4 feet rise, and faster flow will not be good. Best 2-3 weeks traditionally on the river and we’ve been hit with the monsoons! Get the rain out of here already! The drought is over! Have to do more of this.

Twice now today I thought about heading to the river and then a down pour shows up. Went shopping for some goodies for fishing instead since it was raining. Have the 2nd week in June off so thought I’d get some new cranks for using on the water then. Had to do something related to fishing you know. It has to get better [less rain] so hang in there.
    Thanks, Bill
