Had to get down to Pool 4 and check out the Striper action. Steve Vick offered some good suggestions to get us started. worked hair jigs, jigs and twisters and spinnerbaits, landed about 20. most fish were 14-16 inches. did have about 4 over 16 inches, and one that was over the magical Master Angler min of 17 inches. the first picture is of a friend of mine. he had never seen of caught Stripers before. A wonderful day to spend on the water, and a very mild Spring afternoon. will be back soon. Jack.

This picture is the nicest Striper we caught today. It was 17 1/8 inches. Most of my fish came on a white 1/4 oz spinner bait, with an added 3 inch grub trailer. the fish were just wacking it. I only started to cast this outfit as I wanted to get used to a new Curado I recently picked up. super day to be outside this afternoon. Jack..

Pardon my ignorance, but is a white bass the same as a “striper,” or striped bass? Genetically speaking…

People call them white bass, strippers and silver bass. All the same fish. Real name I guess is probably white bass but I call them FUN! They really hit hard and put up a very good fight. Lots of fun and a great fish to fish for with kids. They will hit anything white, silver, chartruse and flashy. Lots of fun.
    Thanks, Bill

No, they’re very different species. The white bass top out around 4 lbs or so. Striped Bass cannot stand our cold climate here in MN and are not present in our lakes and rivers. In southern impoundments stripers can grow to an excess of 60 lbs.

Ah shucks. And I was hoping to catch a 60-lb. fish and now I can’t. Party pooper, lol.
    Thanks, Bill

Where are you finding the whities? A year ago at this time they were on the wingdams tearing it up. Are they back there yet? This is the time I love to take my kids out and just pound them on top water.
Can someone let me in on where they have seen’um.
    Thanks

By looking at Jacks pics I would say near the 3rd wingdam.
    Thanks, Bill
