Hey Bowfinhunter, I really don’t know much about that area, and I haven’t fished the river there, but some places that you could try that aren’t far away would be: Pig’s Eye Lake (connected to the Mississippi), Bald Eagle Lake (has a history of giant carp but often carp in a lake can be hard to locate and catch), NSP channel on the St. Croix (in Bayport). I’ll send you a private for the best place I know of in the Metro area to catch lots of carp.

The 494 boat access in So St Paul has a fishing pier and lots of shoreline space for fishing. The parking lot is well lit and easy to get to. We have found that most river species can be caught from shore in this area.

Also on Pool 2 is the Hidden falls park.

This is a park is just south of the Ford Motor Plant and fishing can be done from shore here. Just a little walk upriver from the access is a good carp and catfish spot from shore.

I have also heard of a excellent spot on the Minnesota River just up a couple miles from the confluence area of the Minn River and the Miss River. This area has been popular for catching all species from shore. Unfortunately I do not have an exact location. Anyone have any info on this location.

    Good Luck,

Be sure to stop back on the site and let everyone know how the fishing faired!!! May the carp gods shine on you!
