Anyone ever experience a problem with there motor where you are in Neutral, the boat still propels forward, and even worse, when you are in reverse and it goes forward? Just started happening this week. 40hp Johnson VRO. 
Sounds like your shift linkage is out of adjustment. Have you had the lower unit off lately?

CPC, I was thinking the same thing. To answer your question, No i haven’t. I’ve had the boat about 2.5 months now. Looks like i know what i’ll be doing come sunday.

You may have to get into the lower unit to adjust the shifting dogs. It’s like a fork thing. If I recall correctly you’ll have one for forward and one for reverse.
If they are worn enough to need adjustment they can act as you are saying.
