I just wanted to share some exciting news with you all. ESPN was here today with fishing guide Loren Waalkens today shooting a show about the Mississippi river and the long term effects of weather on the fish and the river. They are doing a show about different bodies of water around the country. They had 3 people from around the country here…they flew in from Connecticut, South Carolina and Texas I believe. They even took some video of Everts Resort from the water……..pretty cool I thought. If you were fishing at the dam today, you may be on the show as well. It airs two weekends, starting April 5/6. I’ll post more detailed dates and times when I find out.

Cool beans! The more publicity for the area the better. And the weather wasn’t half bad either….

Very cool that they were there. I’m looking forward to seeing the show. And, Steve, did they catch any fish?

They didn’t do any fishing. They just wanted a tour of the river.

Well I suppose I might just as well explain exactly what we did the other day on the river. A short while back a producer from ESPN called me and wanted to do a piece on weather related changes that I have witnessed on the river in the past few years. I actually gave him the name of a friend that I thought probably could give them a better perspective than I could, but after a short phone interview they still wanted me, go figure.I have been fishing up and down the river for almost 25 years and seen alot of changes both good and bad and thats what they wanted. I have never felt the need to be in the spotlight around here, just to have fun takeing people out fishing and experiencing the river that we all love. The ESPN folks were very pleased with what they ended up with and hopefully you guys like it too. It should air in a couple of weeks as a news segment between shows, when I find out exactly when I will let Steve know and he can post it here.

    Regards

    Loren,

Congrats it sounds like they picked the right person to me. I don’t get cable (on purpose thanks) but I’ll get it taped from a friend. I’ve always been impressed at your level of humility, it’s refreshing especially in this industry.

Good going Loren…..I fish with Loren all the time and find that he really knows his stuff. Loren did two shows for Fishing The Midwest a year Looks like his string is still going.
