Me and a buddy were fishing on pool three and saw this hideous snake lurking on the rip rap. Does anyone know what species it is?

Northern Water Snake… harmless and in fact essential to the area’s ecology.
They are freaking cool snakes. If you try to catch one be prepared for a battle. They will hiss, strike, empty their digestive systems all over you, and only then bite… but their saliva has an anticoagulant, so it’ll bleed like a stuck pig.
Still, entirely harmless. Other than a bad smell and a little blood they can’t do anything to you.
