Had had a few people asking if and when we where going to do this again. Yes we will. Last year was a lot of fun. The date for this is Saturday OCT. 6th. Think most everything else will run about the same. CPR fishing contest in the morning. Pot luck get together in the afternoon after the contest.

Looking forward to this again. Ill put up more info as it gets close to the date. Just wanted to put the date out there for now.

Is it a walleye or walleye/sauger contest?

Can measure in both walleyes and saugers. Last year we took the total measurement of each teams 5 longest fish. Verified with photos. Also had a big fish pot for the longest walleye.

Jon Jordan and Deer tracker took both 1st place and big fish last year. From some rumblings I hear they dont stand a chance to repeat.

Never easy to repeat but we will be there. Maybe this blind squirrel will find another nut that gets us in the mony again!

Sure is Blake. Think our limit is 25 boats to keep us under needing a permit. Had about 15 boats last year. $25 per person entry last year with $5 big fish option. Since the contest is small we will do all registration that morning before take off.

She does not say much…. She is like a water moccasin out there. Silent but deadly I would be afraid guys…. Very afraid

Look forward to seeing you there this year Allen.

Keep in mind that we do allow three person teams to. We decided to allow this keeping with the idea this is a friendly social event. We also just didnt see that a three person team would have a great advantage over a two person team. The trade off for fishing three lines was if you won the pot was split between the three of you. Bragging rights is the biggest pot of this contest anyways.

So who thinks Jon and James are going to get lucky again this year?

Yes you might have a ace in the hole fishing with Monica fishing this year Joe. Any newlyweds going to be in the contest this year?

    not this one…

Since I sold the boat, I’m looking for a ride this year…looking for a bump up from my 3rd place finish last year.

I thing there are a few facts that have to be looked at mike?

    1. Lightning does not strike twice ……
    2. Pete might show up with a boat that runs….Sorry Pete
    3. Everyone had a great time last year and there will be a full field of boats to contend with.
    4. Francis and Peggie caught the most fish last year by far. Thus have eliminated all the small fish spots and may be a force.
    5. Monica might not throw me out of the boat??
    6. Jason could have just turned the lucky newlywed card to John and Holli??? She did show him how to catch bigger cats this year.

The list goes on and on

If you don’t find a boat to jump into, you are welcome to join my dad and I.

    I sure hope so!

Maybe I’ll bring Kristie too, though I don’t think she’s a water moccasin

Mike or Jon. You guys doing breakfast again that morning? I’m sure that contributed to our win.

I would love to get Holli to fish in the contest with me, but it will be a challenge getting her to commit to fish in October (“Won’t it be cold out?”) … the much easier thing would be outfishing the rest of you.

Weekends in October are usually dedicated to muskie fishing, but we’ll see. I could be a last minute entry. It does sound like a lot of fun!

P.S. Proof of Holli’s fishing skills … she’s good at catching bottom feeders.

Would love to come down and meet some of my fellow pool 2 anglers, but the contest fee is a little rich for my blood…

Or let me put it another way my Pool 2 skills are incongruent with the fee.

Where are you guys launching out of, maybe I can just come for the pot luck?

If your coming for the pot luck might as well bring the boat and get some fishing in to. Dont need to be in the contest to go out and enjoy the day on the water.
