I stopped by the 494 access yesterday afternoon to see what the river looked like. It’s still really muddy, however the level is way down and the flow is slower too.

The left hand ramp (up river side side) is in bad shape. The asphalt sank and it’s washed out so the leading edge of the concrete sticks up several inches. It would be a heck of a bump if you tried to back your trailer tires up and over that lip. The other side is OK.

I talked to the inspection folks (DNR) this morning… they said they have called SSP several times to get them to fix the ramp. SSP’s reply to the DNR has been “its the DNR’s problem.” Also the dock is still out…so you can imagine the backup on a busy day with no dock and 1 ramp.

    good times,

    Jason

I forgot…they also said the dock is still out because it was damaged in the flood by a large tree…no telling when that will be fixed. The good news is that tree eventually got hung up on one of my favorite wingdams…should attract some sumos.

Oh it gets even better. A guy pulls around and lines up his rig to back it down the one remaining ramp, and THEN the DNR Invasive Species people walk over and “inspect”. Meanwhile people are trying to back around corners to get to the ramp to pull out. Total fiasco.

    Welcome home by the way!

Yup, it’s been bumpy for a while but the recent high water has made it much worse. I could see a guy bending a rim on it or worse.

    yeah thanks!

the DNR person said they needed to put in some gravel and that would solve it..ha. That will fix it for about a week.

I was thinking about that. There was a big pile of grey rock under the bridge, before you cross the tracks. I wonder if they would miss some of it?
