    Hey there,

New to this forum but have read many posts on here for the last year and a half. Second actual post. I just graduated college and do not have a boat! Yet.. Hoping to find something affordable soon. My question is where are good shore fishing spots near Winona? I have gotten into just about everything this year from 5lb bass to 30+ inch norther, to 10-20 lb cats, but the spots I go have gotten boring and I want new spots! I currently fish the MN boat landing, prairie island, the fountain city dam, the train tressel, and the culvert. What other good shore fishing spots are here and what do you fish with/for?

    Thanks!!!

See a lot of people fishing from shore below Winona dam on Wisc. side. There are a couple of wing dams you can fish there. Good luck.

When I was in college, we used to fish an area of ‘rustic’ boat landings behind the airport. The nice thing about the river is that no matter where you go, you are going to find a wide variety of fish. Lake Winona also has some little fished spots that allow you to wade & search the shallow weed edges. I watched a guy in the 100+ temps on Thursday catch a couple of 8″ sunfish in the middle of the afternoon. I thought it was too hot to fish, but they were there!

Try the Float in Alma. Can be a great spot to fish.
