How are the conditions on Pepin? Is the water clearing up at all? How about the debris in the water? Haven’t had time to get out lately. Hope to get out next weekend, daughter coming home and wants to go to the river.

Chirp, all I know is we spent the weekend at Everts and the water is still dirty with some debris and a little fast, but dropping nicely as we speak. (approx 4-6″ overnight)

If you are willing to put in your time fish can still be caught,a week from now I would think the river would be in prime shape.

Hope this helps you out some

We fished yesterday, the water was very muddy at the head of the lake. We ran south and found cleaner water and better fishing. Put about a dozen eyes in the boat, kept two for supper. Mrs. Palerider and I had a nice lunch at the pickle factory. Great day on the water.

Chirp we were out there yesturday and fishing was really slow. From lake city south cought one sauger. Tried fishing the river but with all the boat traffic, that made it tough. I think the lake is going to be tough from here on till fall. Time to fish from colvile to into pool 3 for crappies/ walleyes

Normally with the water dropping the logs and trees get hung up on shore.

I’ve been scratching my head for the last two day wondering why there’s so much debris in the river. A river rat pointed out the big boats are out for the holiday and tossing big wakes. All the wood that was settling along the banks is getting washed out and floating down stream.

Keep and eye out for the floaters folks.

We drove along Pepin to and from Red Wing today and saw several trees in the water, mostly between Hansons Harbor and the public area above Hok-si-la. They weren’t real hard to identify what with the gulls sitting atop them.

we trolled from bogus up to the rush and back to erickson point.
    didn’t try lacoupolis.
the pump on the kicker is shot.
so getting below 2.5 is tuff, even with a couple of socks out.
so putting out slow death wasn’t in the cards.
and the cranks didn’t even get a bump.
now, all three lead lines filling up with river debris didn’t help.
we did mark a lot of fish under sea gulls off of long Point.

and we got some smoke from under the dash when we started up. obviously a short.
90 minutes later and a dozen starts, we still couldn’t find anything.
went fishing and the motor/steering operated perfectly for 6 hours.
    steering installed.

now off to replace the kicker’s fuel pump…

hey, give a guy a break, will ya??? In my budget bracket, you have to try every option to save a nickel…

Going down again today. Thinking to try the deep water off LaCoupolis with cranks and slow death (assuming the kicker works…)
