HI All, In this mornings Tribune, there is a mention of another St Croix River NO WAKE that is now in effect, started yesterday (Wednesday). they said the river is 8 feet above the 683 flood stage, and this restriction will stay in effect until the water levels go below the 683 level, the restriction is for the lower St Croix and covers from Taylor Falls to the Mississippi River.

Has anyone heard of no wake zones occurring during early summer or any other time during the year outside of our normal Spring times. Have not had time to enjoy some river fishing, need to get back to pool 4. Jack.

I looked all over for that article but couldn’t find it. Was it in the sports section?

    Pioneer Press:LOWER ST. CROIX RIVER

Slow-no-wake zone returns: After being in effect for a record 39 days in April and May, the entire Lower St. Croix River is again under a slow-no-wake boating restriction.

The special rule was automatically reinstated Wednesday under Minnesota and Wisconsin boating rules when the river rose above 683 feet at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Stillwater gauge. That’s 8 feet above the normal river stage.

The rule is aimed at protecting the public from such flood-related hazards as debris and strong river currents, and to minimize damage to shoreline property, levees and riverbanks by wave action from wind and boats.

The rule is in effect on the entire 52 miles of the Lower St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, from Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls, Wis., south to the Mississippi River.

I stated this on tues. , but maybe you didn’t see the post? anyway all ramps are posted with no-wake signs. We are looking at another two to three weeks of this, if it doesn’t rain. Thats not to say fthe fishing isn’t good, was out tues. nite caught a 26″,20″,2-17″s,2-15″s, and lots of sheepys on crawlers, spinners, and bottom bouncers. Th etrolling bite is on again with lead core fi you can find the fish. The big fish and 2 saugers came by trolling the rest by spinners. Best advice I can give is to take this time and troll every piece of shore line for future and present. I’ve trolled the shore line from wisc. side of afton at catfish bar all the way to kinni narrows then back up the minn. side and had great luck.Experiment with depths and baits, the 10- 25 depth is pretty consistent. FISH ON!!!
