Why does it take so long to view this forum?

It takes much longer to access the Mississippi forums. Often, and I mean every day, it hangs up so long I move on. Why so? I’m sure its not just me but would like to hear from others confirming the situation.

I have been having the same problem with the hunting side of IDO for months. I get rid of the cookies and all and it still takes about 15-20 seconds to open a post.

First time I’ve heard of this particular forum being slow.

Here’s how long the page took to come back and load for me.

Generated in 0.087 seconds in which 0.07 seconds were spent on a total of 15 queries.

I honestly don’t know where the issue might be because it looks like the servers are firing back pages.

    Anyone else having issues?

Not sure. I can’t get it to load slow no matter how many times I jump in and out of the river forums. But I know that if three or four people are seeing something… there’s an issue. Of course the trick is to know if it is on our end or the user’s end.

This forum has always loaded much slower than most, when ever I am on line at work, or on my home computer.

I always figure that it was because it contains 5 sub forums

At times I will get “not responding” at the top of the page.

I wouldn’t think that would have an impact but just in case, try this >>> Outdoors Gear Forum Let me know if that one loads slow for you as well. It has 13 subs. IF 5 is slow, 13 should be miserable.

It is slow for me on occasion as well and generally on a 100MBps desk top connection. Today has been a good day.

I just tried it here at work and it pops right up, no problem.

I tried the Mississippi forum and it loaded right away also.

It loads slow for me on occasion also. Today it seems fine, or at least better than usual. Some times it takes 30-40 seconds to load each page, when every other internet forum I visit is super quick.

Sometimes it takes a long time to post also, 45 seconds to a minute to enter a post.

We’re going to try some database tweaks tonight to see if we can’t get to the bottom of why this one particular forum seems to load slow for some. I’ll let everyone know when that happens (tonight after midnight at the earliest so as not to interrupt too many people) and we’ll check back in with those seeing issues tomorrow to see if there’s any improvement.

James, I think its the users personal computer because I’m having the same problem,,,and on other sites as well. If things are loading slow, like mine is, I know for a fact its my personal pc. I’m in the progress of fixing it, its the speed of my own pc, more then likely its not yours… atleast with my pc it is.

Dude, there’s a bunch of different people saying they’re having issues. I doubt it is the individual computer in all these cases. I have had many slow load times as well with the Mississippi page, while I go to other forums and the pages open up lickety split. That being said I believe IDO is the best fishing forum in the upper midwest and it always keeps me coming back!

I’ve had slow issues or hangups at times too. I always blame Charter. They deserve the blame even if not at fault.

Crazy. Things are ultra-fast for me. Almost instantaneous.

Jon, when was the last time you used the “mark all read” function? Can you do that and see if that speeds up the page load?

I mark all read frequently. This problem affects all computers I access the site on. Has been slow to load the forum for as long as I can remember.
