Does this tick anybody else off or is it just me?

Fishing on Lake Pepin with my son today and had someone cut in front of me. Was with in 10 yards. I know I don’t own the water but that ticks me off. Had the same thing happen last year. I know I don’t do that to other people.

were you trolling? I’ve had guys do that to me when up in MN waters. It is typically residents that noticed my orange IA tag and are voicing their opinion about me fishing “their spot”.

I’ve also been bass fishing a weedline and had people fire up their outboard and drive through the weedline ahead of me so I would leave.

Some people just dont realize how much money I spend in their town to fish there. Rude rude rude.

But yeah, I have had that happen down here as well. People dont care, they go where they want. I’ve had people speed up to get to a spot before I could when trolling, to the point their rods were doubled over from the drag of pulling a crankbait 6mph to cut me off.

You need a sign that says, “Compensate Much”?

oh and to answer your question, yes it does tick me off.. but I get over it and keep fishing. I dont try to start anything, I just figure that guy needed the fish more than me. I’m just out there to enjoy the day, so no need to get upset too much. But yes, it does tick me off.

I got over it. But just ticks me off. No I wasn’t trolling, was casting the bank and they were doing the same. Was a great day on the water until the wind picked up. Fun to have my son in the boat.

That is a reason I don’t fish Youngs Landing much…that has happened to me there too many times…

Unwritten river rules- when pulling into a spot- look to see what the boats around you are doing.
    1. Never pull in ahead of someone’s trolling pass.
    2. In a downstream drift pitching a shoreline- do not cut in front of the other boats drift pass. Go way upstream of them and take your turn.
    3. If an Angler has found a pod of fish in a small area leave them alone.
    4. Do not pass someone in a trolling pass 3ways or cranks.
    5. Don’t anchor in a run or drift people are working.
    6. Wave at everybody and be friendly.
    7. Remember we all learned these things through experience and to be patient.

I hear ya- try to evaluate experience level before getting bent out of shape. Have witnessed a lot of courtesy this year from anglers from eveywhere- but you will always have anglers on 4 just starting to learn the game.

When your done fishing just trim the motor up and troll by slowly like your not wanting to disrupt there fishing and give them some rollers and a wave.

Has happened several times on Pepin to my boat… in my opinion they knew what they were doing. Ticks me off for sure but what can you do? Gotta be the better person. Besides, they might have money riding on the clean water

It happened to me the other day on Pepin and I don’t let it go. I’m not afraid to inform them what they are doing. They usually leave or stay clear of me after that. Stand up to people like that. It’s not like they’re going to do a pirate boarding and sink your boat.

This has happened to me more times then I care to remember. It’s upsetting to say the least. One thing you can’t change is ignorance. I’ve had to bite my tongue many times when I had clients in the boat. When I’m with friends I tend to let it all hang out. I hate to say it, but get use to it.

Happens Waaaaay too often. I’m usually on 3,4, or 5 and 4 is the worst. Once we were trolling the MN side South of Lake City, hooked a couple nice ones at the same spot in consectuive passes. An idiot sees us scoots over and drops anchor. My first instinct was tie on a half ounce jig and bounce a few casts off the side of his boat.

That is why I never get a net out unless it is a big fish and I try and keep my rods low when pulling in fish. Many times I will just slide the fish over the transom.

Little tricks learned from fishing with James.

…and why so many walleye guys have trout nets in their boat.

It must have been the same boat that cut me off also on Sat. As soon as we brought in a nice sauger he was right on top of us. We was drifting he was trolling but I was thinking he was going to tangle our lines in his motor. I didn’t say anything to this person but it really upset me. I really wanted to give him a bath by lifting up the motor and taking off. I respect other people fishing giving them distance and being friendly on the water. Common Curtisey some people have NONE! I’m just so glad my wife was their also she would have definatley expressed her opinion by hand jestures.
