Making the drive to spend this Saturday down there. Wondering if anyone knows if the w.bass are schooling around yet?

Last year I started fishing W.Bass in the end of June/early July. Even though they were still biting, people were telling me it was a little late and the big feed happens in May during their spawning season. I’ve been down there once already and not a sign.

White Bass fishing is quite addicting. Thinking about traveling out of state to fish stripers for the first time ever.

We see them busting minnows in the evenings on upper P-4 through out the summer months….and right now.

About a week ago, they were schooling up by the Red Wing dam. Haven’t noticed any since then.

Well lets hope they make an appearance on the lower end.I’d be bounded to shore. The only shore good spots I’ve had any success is the stockholm & pepin ripraps. Tried Bay City & Maiden Rock shores but never had any luck there.

I have heard that the White Bass go nuts when the shad spawn or just after. Anyone know when that spawn happens?

Once saw the Whites chase baitfish all the way into the designated swimming area of a beach. The shad/minnows were jumping above the surface to avoid being eaten. The women and children began to scream and ran to shore.

It was amusing, reminded me of Jaws.
