This year I got a new bow so with my old compound bow just sitting in my garage, I decided to start bowfishing. I live in La Crosse. Use to have a boat but not any more (LONG STORY). So I went out one time so far this year and saw nothing. I could use some help in find spots to bowfish. Also any tip for this green horn? The only spot that I went to was the sloughs by the French Island spillway. All I got was stuck in the mud. LOL. Any help will be appreciated.

Get a kit, dont try and tie your string to the bow… learned that the hard way!

I got an AMS reel on the bow. Not to sure about taking my sight off. I always shot with a sight on my bow so it’s different. Thanks for the tip.

Instinct shooters pickup carp shooting quick. Sight shooters not so much.
IMHO. Only shot with a sight guy once wasn’t interested in doing it again.
The fish aren’t where you see them so sticking a pin on them isn’t going to do it.

Carp are just spawning down here so you got a lot of time up there I bet.
I use a 20lb buckeye recurve and hoping to get out this year.
    Maybe in kayak.

I usually do long distance shooting. I’m good with a sling shot so I’m not too worry about it. Its just different not looking down the sights. I have been practicing. I can hit a pop can 3 out 5 shots about 15 yards away. But I know that it is different shooting something in the water. Thanks appreciate your help.

Find some backwaters that are shallow.. right now on pool 2 im seeing some big ole carp swimming around some flooded areas with half there backs sticking out the water! My best advice is aim low and towards the head
