Lacrosse fishing questions

    i have not fished the lacrosse area, i am fromt he greenlake area, and want to try some fishing while in lacrosse.
    What part fo the mississippi is good to fish this time of the year?
    what are some other close areas that are hot?

    how do i know what pool i am near and how are they numbered, that confuses me?

    What baits are hot to use and is there any good sights that explain what colors are good to use on particular days and conditions?

    The city of La Crosse is on pool 8.

    Right now some of the backwaters are producing nice sized panfish. If the boat traffic at the dam is any indication of the walleye bite, it has been slow. Bass fishing is picking up nicely and should be good for the whole season. The Northern are on fire right now too.

    Is there something in particular you are looking to fish for?
