I know this site has good fishing reports and report archives. But I was wondering if anyone else keeps their own records of river levels, temp, weather conditions and what presentation you were using? I’ve been keeping these records for years now and fall back on them for reference. Thanks

    Snakeyes,

i just started last year keeping a record of whre I was and what i was using. Stage of the river and type of flow. I have already gone back and said “Oh Yeah I should try that again” and has produced fish. Its a great idea. Does anyone know if there is a computer program for logging fishing exscursions on?

    Thanks

Actually Hougie wrote his onw kick-bum “river guy fishing log” several years back. Darn cool. Do you still have that program Steve?

I think we’ve talked about this before. What I want is a fishing log program that works on the same principle as Napster(TM) and allows you to search and download the info and compile it into a master database.

I suppose that this is all possible using web forms and perl scripts, but my HTML is so rusty I’d probably just be sending out dimensions on playmate of the month.

I use Fish Stat Pro. It is easy, and does the job.

This is something Ive always wanted to do and have done in Microsoft Access but it is not a distributed application. In other words you have to have microsoft access for it to work. The access program was nice but it’s a bit outdated. It allowed you to keep track of the stage and flow and a personal log of every fish you caught every time out. Then you could run a report and see how many fish you had for the year what the average weight was and length was, how many total pounds you had for year etc. I would like to do something custom for river anglers that can be put on cd and sold on our site for a fair price. But it all comes down to the cost vs benefit ratio for EFN. Maybe it could be a new project. I would want to make one for rivers and one for lakes. This isnt meant to tease you guys but if I see enough interest in people buying something like this and it is cost effective for EFN we would take a hard look at it.

I did it for over 25 years with pen and tablet, then went to Microsoft Word several years ago, now im using Microsoft Access. Works for what I do. I just wish Access would have been around when I started then I would have it all together. Oh well.

Seems to me that, assuming the COE and NWS pages don’t change format too often, stage and flow, air temp, wind speed and direction, and other general condition info could be automatically fetched from a web server somewhere. Then all you’d really have to do was fill in what kinds of fish and how many. Too cool.

Unfortunately, embedded engineers are long on ideas and short on execution ability. I don’t know the first thing about PC apps, and understand the windows environment about as well as I do women.
