Well, since there isn’t a Rum River forum, I will post this here.

Wife and I took the ultra-lights to the dam looking for some crappie action on a wonderful Saturday afternoon.

Used fatheads and slip bobbers at 4 feet depth.

No crappies, but we did manage to land 6 Northern Pike and one Smallmouth bass in 2 hours of trying.

Fish averaged 3 lbs, ( the Northerns ), with the bass a fighten 2 lbr.

We were fishing on the West side where the backwash eddy forms 50 feet below the dam.

Havn’t seen much of anything come out of the east side yet.

Just a couple of 5 inch walleye’s so far this year. Nice aquarium fish if one were so inclined.

With no leaders on, all I can say is thank god for fireline! That stuff handled the pike with no problems. Only re-tied once due to some line fray.

Went out for 3 hours again today.

Caught and released at least 30 pike from 1 to 5 lbs.

I thought I’d see if there were any cats active yet, so I also brought 2 5 inch sucker minnows with.

Instead of a cat, I was rewarded with the biggest Pike I have ever caught. 13.5 lbs!!!!!!

I was fortunate enough to have a guy next to me with a net, as I couldn’t get my hand around its back to lift it out!

This now moves a digital cam way up on my need…..errrr…..wish list!

To answer your question, No. I don’t ever fish above the dam, unless you count where it comes out of Mille Lacces.
