Just bought a IM8 Med/Lt action rod for jigging. Anyone else using these rods? What have your experiences been?

    Thanks.

I’ve owned several Gander Rods, dating back to when St Croix made them. I’ve had good experiences with them. The price seems fair. I sold the last one I had to a fellow board mate. I was raising funds to buy a Legend Elite. That’s the only reason I sold it.

    Steve,

I am still waiting to use the rods I bought from you. Will be out in Red Wing on Friday I will give you a report. Congrats on the new boat. I hope to see you on the Croix this summer.

I have several GS rods and fing they work well, are tough and don’t break if you drop a rod locker door on them. They are reasonable n price too,

Last summer I bought a six foot, medium action Im8 Gander rod. Right now this is my favorite spinning rod. The rod cost me about $50. I have a Berkley rod and a St. Croix that cost around a $100 each about three years ago. The gander rod out performs either one of the other rods in sensitivity. I understand that technology has increased significantly lowering the prices of rods. But some of the relatively cheap Gander rods seem to compare very well with the more expensive top end rods like St. Croix.

I have a 7′ med. IM8 that I use mostly for rigging and like it very well. It compares to my St. Croix premire in sensitivity, but the action is not quite as fast. I work at GM part time so I get plenty of time to handle many different rods. The GM IM8 rods compare very well to others in that price range and slightly above it. The GM IM7’s are ok too, but I’d much rather have the IM8 for $10 more. I wouldn’t buy the IM6 GM rod. Just my opinion, and you know what they say about those. Bret.
