Fishing anchored we are at a disadvantage snagging one, but 2 years ago that is exactly what happened TWICE in 3 days. Well the line was wrapped about their bills and the hook stuck.
Out of the 8 years I’ve fished near the dam, that’s the only two paddles I’ve “lassoed”.

Some that we caught were nearly as big as me. Dad used to hold me by the back of the belt to keep me from getting slid down the beach and into the water. They put up a heck of a battle in the fast water. Internally they’re built like a shark, all cartillage, no bones at all- – jerr
