Haven’t seen a positive post for pool 2 in a while. I checked out Hog lake Easter Sunday, found some HUGE white bass. There were some GIGANTIC carp rolling around in Pigs Eye Lake. I checked out Grey Cloud Slough today, nothing back there yet. Any news anywhere else?

The fact that I’ve been seeing all the pool 2 regulars on pool 4 tells me the bite has got to be a bit “off.”

Dezurik is out on Erie for a bit so we won’t be hearing from him, for a while anyway.

Its been slooooooooooww guys. No big fish whatsoever. With the water temps at where they are now, the spawn is probably under way. I’m just guessing, as I haven’t caught anything over 19″ the last week. Water levels are dropping again, but the water is clearing. The fish are spread out quite a bit… and most luck has been had by vertical jiggers using fatheads. The day bite is tough, with a brief flurry of action at dusk. I have been setting up on current seams, and waiting for the sun to go down. Nothing after dark either. All-in-all…. it just plain sucks.

pressman…hog lake is also known as “little pigs eye”, or “north star steel” anyway if you were to travel straight into pigs eye lake via the pigs eye lake channel, (the one with all the barges)…you would take an immediate left(this lake is EXTREMELY shallow) once you entered pigs eye…keep traveling along the south shore of pigs eye and you will come across a little channel with some flow to it…this is the entrance to hog lake…i feel so “copy-cat” like ’cause steve dezurik said all of this before..but anyway, make your way in there, it gets to somewhere around 25-30 feet deep and there is probably every species you would ever want in there…………..just figure out how to catch ’em…it pulled the rest of my hair out…………..dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

The March/April bite has typically been a tricky bite to nail down on Pool 2, at least for me. Things will definitely turn around soon.

Was out last night and found water temps in the mid to upper 50’s. The water level is pretty low.

Dinosaur and I spent the majority of time casting cranks to the face of wing dams. Only found a couple healthy white bass and one 18 inch (or so) walleye. Nothing to brag about. This presentation will take off here as soon as the water warms up a few more degrees.

Hey Jon…. did you make up to the confluence area last night? Sounds like theres a pretty big brush fire on Pike Island.

We put in at 494 and fished that general area on up to the airport.

A good grass fire is all part of nature. Sounds like they are letting it burn it’s self out.

I see from your other post you were up by the dam. I was down in the 494 area. There is a warm water discharge from Pigs Eye and there is water flowing out of the backwaters there too. So the warmer water (+3 to 5 degrees) seems resonable it may just be a little warmer down south.

Actually, everything south of the Minnesota is probably a little warmer…just a guess.

The cat is out of the bag and I always wondered who let it out I have been fishing little pigs eye for over ten years and never used to see any one back there,it is a small place I now see a lot of people anchoring back there and getting mad at the bass and white bass anglers. There is a good bite going most the time so don t get pissed at anglers who are getting access because you are anchor at the inlet or outlet. It used to be a peaceful spot.Have fun back there and don t be suprised about the amount of anglers back there at once.

Sorry guys about the lack or reports lately. Just returned back from Lake Erie and have not been on Pool 2 for a little over a week. I spoke with a friend of mine this morning that has been out quite a bit fishing the southern part of the pool and had some moderate success at best. The bite was pretty quiet for him as well. My last couple trips proved things to be very slow on the upper end of the pool. I had really invisioned this bite to be better this spring that it was(is). I wish I had more positive things to comment on, but things have been slow for my boat.
I will be back down over the next couple of days and will hopefully have some positive things to comment about.
