I was out last week and yesterday on pool 2 with my nephew in his new to him boat. It came with a depth finder and we aren’t sure how accurate the temperature gauge is. So I am wondering what other people have been reading so we can determine if it is accurate.

Last Sunday we were looking at about 45 around the confluence. Yesterday (Sunday the 25th) we found 59 at the confluence and 54 downstream. Can anyone on those days provide temp readings for comparison?

Holy smokes—60 degree water temps in the month of March. That is insane! Makes you wonder what is going to happen with the spawn.

About the same readings near 494 Saturday afternoon. What did you guys find for fish? We caught one 24″ walleye dragging some rocks. Was hoping to find some active white bass but no luck.

Fished P2 6am till noon on Saturday. 2 bites, 2 fish. One jig/ringworm, one on a jig/crawler. Both walleye in that 17 inch range. Both from the same shoreline current break in about 6-8 foot of water.

Will be pulling out the cranks next trip and cover some water!

I threw some cranks at wingdams on Saturday. What temps are there for it but the time of year just doesnt seem right. Most likely will be hitting some of my longline trolling runs next trips out.

Also had 56 on Sat. Fished for cats and caught a half dozen small channels. Had one big one rolling beside the boat and broke the line. Note to self…need different rod for catfishing with stronger line.

Dumb question, what is the confluence?

Kbush, it’s where, in this case the Minnesota River and the Mississippi River meet.

Another example would be the confluence of the St Croix and Mississippi Rivers.

PS this post was from 2012, the last time Pug thought about going fishing. (joke)

Thanks, Brian! Turns out I learned something new today.
