What water temps should we look for for the smallies and pike to become active on the lake? Any tips on places to try? I have fished the shore line along the railroad tracks for smallies and the DNR area for pike. Any other suggestions for both species? Baits of choice? Have had some luck in these 2 places but would like to have some other spots to try. Thanks

i can’t think of any good shore fishing spots on pepin4 pike but there is a point between frontinac and lake city i think called long point that i think is known4 pike. otherwise from shore there is a lot of spots along the nelson/wabasha dyke road where we have caught a ton of pike in the summer.

another good idea is when the HEAT of the summer gets the water temps up around hi7o’s or in the 80’s some of the little rivers that dump into the mississippi stay colder and the pike really like2 get up into them this time of year. just an idea i thought i’d share with you good luck and hope u post up some pics of giant gators this year!

I have a boat. I just meant I fished along the shore line. Sorry for the confusion.

Dont forget to add a white 1/2oz and 3/4oz spinner bait.. one you would use for bass.. I have caught some 10 lb pike with these..
