Ice out on Lake Pepin

    Anyone care to take a guess and when the ice will be broken up. This warm weather this week has got to have it very close.

    I drove past the lake above Lake City today and there’s lots of open water down to trailer point. This morning on the road north to Red Wing we took the scenic route thru Old Frontenac and there was still a large sheet of ice that spanned the lake there though. What ice remains looks thoroughly shot. I think the weekend too especially with some blow on the water.

    Im guessing middle of july if were lucky. Dont bother checking untill then

    I was just thinking this morning that I really wish I was backing my boat into Lake Pepin right now.

    the breaker should be going threw soon the first barge is due in st paul on the 19th

    Heard they werent sending any through till after the 15th due to matience on one of the dams. I dout the breaker will be breaking anything

    Should be nothing but water by saturday.
