….coming to a Pool 2 island or shoreline near you??? Saw at least 4 of these over the weekend on lower pool 2. I know these areas have been public in the past. So, no more hunting, trapping or picking morels? That is not going to sit well with many who use these areas down there.

    No boating or fishing??? WTF???

The wording on the sign reads as follows:

    Quote:

This area was established to protect and perpetuate Minnesota’s rare and unique natural resources for nature observation, education and research purposes.

Official Rules are available at the Department of Natural Resources Offices. Principle activities are UNLAWFUL in the use of this are listed below:

    – Collecting plants, animals, rocks, and fossils.
    – Camping, picnicking and swimming
    – Horses, dogs and other pets
    – Snowmobiles and other motorized vehicles
    – Hunting, trapping, fishing and boating
    – Entry into restricted areas and sanctuaries

    Walk Gently

Ya these are the biggest waste in my opinion! Sure I understand wanting to protect things but these scientific areas are a joke!

The DNR does have a page on SNA areas but I cant find one listed for lower pool 2.

The SNA’s on P2 have been there for a while and I’m not aware of any rule changes. I would guess the only thing new are the signs.

SNA’s on 2 include the Pine Bend Bluffs, Grey Cloud Dunes, and the Pigs Eye Heron Rookery…there may be others. The SNA’s are public lands.

Maybe work on the wording a bit before issueing such a ridiculous sign? They can KMA. Oh and thanks a lot Jon for clearly breaking the rules and “boating” up to the sign for a picture.

BTW I see nothing about harvesting fungis so mushrooms are still good to go. Just “walk gently” while picking….

Well, sorta. Not sure how to access the shore AND get around the boating restriction without getting wet.

What a load of poop! Pretty soon the only way to enjoy the outdoors will be by video from your government provided living cubicle…..
