Anyone know about the common carp population near the Red Wing area?

We’ve caught several species up to 37lbs over the years fishing walleye/sauger.

Absolutely. Pitch hair jigs for walleyes in the early fall! You can’t beat them off with a stick. I second Tom’s comment on the size, 20’s are not uncommon, and I remember dad with a buffalo that had to push 40 several years ago in the spring.

Clive caught this buffalo about a week ago on pool 4. He said it was almost as fun as a catfish.

We had 3 – 30lb+ carp on the line on Friday when we were pre fishing for the FYB. I hooked into a monster pitching a ringworm. Had him boat side and he came unbuttoned. This was the biggest carp I have ever had on my line hands down. It was a fun fight, but I was not sad when the hook came out and he swam away
