Fairly new to the Mississippi River system. This site is a treasure trove of information and I have really appreciated it. Fished the river a few days a week ago. The variety of fish in the river is entertaining to say the least. We caught gar, saugers, walleyes, white bass, smallies, northerns, perch and crappies on pool 4. 1/16th oz jigs with small minnows and plastics both worked. Color didn’t seem to matter much. We accessed off the WI river channel and it was in great shape. Thanks to whomever is keeping that up and in great shape. We released 2 crappies over 14″s and a few in the 13″ range as well as numerous sauger. It was the earliest I’ve ever been in a boat in Minnesota. That was awesome. Thanks for a great site!
