Well, I’m a grown man and I can take my lumps. Today was one of those days. I got schooled by my buddies. Of course it helps when they are in the right place and I’m about 20′ off the right structure. It wasn’t a total loss however. It was “date day/adult only day” on the ice. It was nice for Nicole and I to get some time to go play like we used to.

The crappies and sauger were cooperating for Louie and his FIL at least. I did manage one nice perch that hooked himself on a neglected rod inside the fish house.. Either way you couldn’t ask for a much better day weather wise to be out there.

There was open water about 50 yards to the west of us. There were 5 or 6 guys set right up next to the open water and they were putting on a seminar catching one Flathead Cat after another. They must have caught 20 Flatheads in the hours we were there. One that had to be pushing 25#.

I know part of my problem was I couldn’t get away from these guys all day.

Some guys in ultralights were out cruising around about 10′ off the ice. It was kind of cool to see.

Bee-u-ti-ful day out Wade! Make that crack a 3/4 of a mile wider or more and I’d feel better…about getting down there in the boat!

We caught crappies in the backchannel early today. Great morning/day to be outside! We caught some pike bait like you’re holding too…

Should have seen me nose dive into my ice hole after that sauger as it came unbuttoned in the hole..just about up to my elbows ha ha ha…

I’ve had that camera for 3.5 years now and I’m still impressed with how well it operates and the quality of pics it produces. Let me tell you, I have NOT been nice to that camera. It is beat up but keeps on banging out the pics.
