Was in fleet farm the other day and one of the sporting goods workers was talking about how much he likes it. He said he has talked to alot of fishermen that come in and the power pro and fireline seem to be the best. They hold knots well and are tough enough to withstand a good beating from the zebras. He suggested a brand (I think–Tuf–a heavy braided line)) for muskie fishing. Power Pro is on sale at Fleet Farm in Winona $10-11.
I have used power pro the last year and a half a really like it. Like Kieth stated it doesn’t fray as bad and as fast as fireline. To me that gives me more confidence. Seeing the line I am fishing with starting to fray just cuts my confidence in half. It seems to be a little bit more limp than fireline. It casts real easy and does not seem to produce as many line tangles coming off the reel. Not having to deal with all those line tangles coming off the reel saves me a lot of fishing time.
Have been using Spiderwire for the past 6 years but last year during a tournament at Prairie DuChein, Cabela didn’t have any 30# test spiderwire left and I needed a tough line to fish the lotus leafs and lily pads with. Chad at Cabelas down there suggested I use Power Pro as he had heard good reports. I bought some 60# test and went back out the next day with it spooled and ready. Toughest line I ever used. Even 60# test was limp and had excellent castability. I would highly recommend it for tough fishing conditions.
Power Pro line is one of the better braids I have ever used.Very castable, strong ,sensetive and now it comes ib yellow colors also.I use a lot of the 1 lb. diam. 8 lb. test this past winter ,and I would recommend it for vert. jigging.Remmeber to loosen your drag a little more than you would for mono.Great for deep water jigging and pitiching also.
You can’t go wrong using power-pro I’ve pulled alot of jigs out with it and you don’t have respool that much.Just remember to put a mono backing on your reel cause it will spin on the spool.
