On my way to work our Red Wing shop today I was treated to the beautiful sight of WHITE CAPS all along the banks of Lake Pepin. From about Hanson’s Harbor down as far as downtown the waves were rolling in…really, a decent walleye chop. Above Hanson’s Harbor though it looked as though the channel was still locked up. I haven’t a clue what was to be seen downstream from Trailer Point.
Baypoint had some pockets of open water this morning too…enough a guy could have cast a long rod from a couple docks.
The temp was hanging right in there at around 16degrees as we came home tonight along the river valley. As soon as we hit the top and the praitie land the temps went down to around 11 degrees pretty much all the way to Roch, but then came up to about 17-18 degrees. Man that open water looked nice today for a treat but I know it won’t stand up to Minnesota winter weather.
