Wondering is anyone got out over our Christmas weekend. Any recent ice report at Halfmoon, Finger Lakes, or Mn Boat Club? I am eager to get out Monday, but am afraid our beautiful weather is going to spoil my plans.

Judging by my facebook newsfeed, guys are still pounding McNally’s and squeezing the life out of it for all its worth. Sounds like they’re still getting some northerns on the tip ups but my guess is the panfishing is pretty slow. It comes as no surprise after fisherman take bucket fulls of 9″ers every chance they get Can’t wait to explore uncharted territories when i get back to good ole’ Winona!

On the backwaters nothing is uncharted anymore. I agree with the limit taking issue. WQe need to see some serious re-vamping of limits on sunfish, crappies and perch, not only thru the ice but during soft-water as well.

Half-moon is on pool 5 and yes people are out there fishing.

It is by West Newton which is just south of Kellogg. Any reasonably good map should have it labeled.

Well I made it out today. The weather was near perfect, but the fishing was off. Halfmoon yield plenty of small bluegill, nothing worth keeping. Mn Boat Club had little to offer either, but still a fun day. Plenty of ice, and I’ll be trying the boat club later again this week. Being new at ice fishing, I need plenty of practice.

Was out looking around today myself. Plenty of guys at mn boat harbor and McNally landing. Saw some smaller gills and a few pike come up. Ended up keeping 6 for my first ice outing of the year. Looked like cars at the airport but did not go check it out.

How can you keep a bucket load of panfish @ McNallys when the limit is 10? Must be some small buckets.
