ALl I have to say is BEAUTY!!!! Okay, I have more to say! Coming from “my kneck of the woods” I truly appreciated to see the current poll on the main page. Fishing river and streams in SE MN is way over looked. It was interesting to see out of the almost 100 “voters” near 50% have caught stream trout largee than 21 inches!!! WOW!!!! Fisherman drive out West to catch trout like that! It’s virtually in our own back yard people!!!

Thanks again for the poll Steve! I hope to assist at least one person this year in surpassing their personal best trout!

    Keep the rods bendin’!!!

Thanks! For what is worth, my best brown was taken from Spring Creek in Timber Coulee just East of Coon Valley WI. and measured about 17.5. He dashed out from under one of those shoreline rock structures and grabbed a whole nightcrawler. I always wanted one over 20 but just never got him.

Jim , when does trout fishing open in Minnesota? The early trout season in Wisconsin opened on the 2nd. Despite the horrendous weather their were a few who made it out Saturday. I’ve always felt that the early catch and release seasons are the best for big trout. Maybe its because you don’t have to fight your way through all those stocked trout.

The early season is the best. I have cuaght my largest and most trout during the early season. What makes it nice is that there are not so many anglers out tromping through the stream. I fish in WI on the Race, Willow, and the Rush. I use ultra light spinning tackle with Raps and Panther Martins. The hog trout go crazy for them. Lots of fun and there is nothing like the sound of a babbaling stream while your fishing. Largest trout is a 24 inch brown.

We just didn’t think it was fair, not having a forum for all you small stream trout and bass guys that share all this wonderful info here on FTR….. so we created a forum just for that very subject. Hopefully those of you that favor waders over outboards to get you around will find the accomodations to your liking!
