    Hey Rootski,

Interesting read. Do you know what they are doing in the channel back into Hog? Any link to that story? Pretty big dredge going on there right now.

Jon I think that might have to do with that sewer upgrade project. It started in IGH, followed along the edge of Hardman Avenue and then crossed the river near the Waterous Plant and I’m assuming from there it would run all the way to the treatment plant up the peninsula between the main channel and Pig’s Eye lake. They built a road through there, Gary R. and I were watching big trucks and earth moving equipment move back and forth back in the woods the other night.

Thinking this project may have more of an influence on pool 3 anglers with muddy water getting washed down over the dam. May spook all of those hard to get to walleyes up stream!

Wonder if anyone every tests the sediment that is dredged up off the bottom on these projects? Lots of fun chemicals that have been dumped into the river mixed in that soil sure would make a great beach for the kids to play on. Sure hope they take some of the money for this project and go after the source of the problem on the MN or even upper pool 2.

Mike the meeting a couple years ago in Red Wing when they were talking about making it a no wake zone to the dam…yeah, all 6 miles. This was brought up by land owner(s) that were having their beach washed away by (mostly) the pleasure craft.

One of the alternitives that was brought up was using some of the dredging sand to replace these areas that were being washed away.

The land owners complained that one of the agencies wouldn’t allow this because of the pollution in the sand. However there was something (I don’t recall) that was made in Red Wing with the sand and that was brought up to the officials that attended.

The no wake idea was dropped and I haven’t heard boo since.

My point is that normally the sand isn’t allowed to be used for beaches ect, but where there’s motivation to these agencies…it does happen.
