Got the chance to hit the water today! Decided to launch out of Red Wing (Colvill) I haven’t spent any time on the river this year and the water was gin clear the last time I put the boat in! Not the case now

My first option was to try for some pike but i couldn’t put anything together there! Had one real nice fish follow but rolled away at the boat! so since i just happened to bring a few crawlers me and the kids had in the fridge along I put on a jig and loaded it up with a worm! First spot I hit I found a few fish couple short saugers and two nice walleyes 22″ and 26″ along with a few other odds and ends! then I started to run and gun a few spots and seemed to find a walleye here and there but no mass schools! ended up keeping 5 fish 15″-22″ ya one 22 incher made its way to the pan! one crappie one blue gill and released 3 fish over 22″ and a handful of little guys! The bite was fairly consistent and all fish were found in that 8 to 12 feet of water with 9 feet being my key in depth!

The weather was great the river was not to busy and it sure beat working!

    Good luck

Sounds like a great day to me especially with the weather being so nice.

Heard from a young man from Cottage Grove this week at Boomsite landing that he measured a 28 inch walleye at Bayport on the Croix.
