Something I noticed today when I was checking out the Newport fishing pier was the DNR sign said, “Catch and release only for walleye, sauger, smallmouth and largemouth bass.” Didn’t northerns and muskies used to be on the list too?

I don’t think Muskies and Northerns were ever on the list. I have seen the C&R signs at the 494 access, Lilydale, and Hidden Falls.

Ok. So I have had it wrong in my head for all these years. I would not have kept any northerns or muskies anyway.

Not sure if I have ever heard of a muskie caught on Pool 2 have you seen any? Regarding Pike they seem to be much more present this year then in the past years. I had one trip that I caught 8 of them. In the previous 3 years I do not think that I caught 8 total.

I’ve seen two. Dave B got one up by the confluence.
