If you did not see this in the General discussion forum we are planning on having a fishing contest and get together on pool 2, Oct 1 at Lions Levee park in St Paul Park. Everyone is invited to come. The fishing contest will be a Catch, Photo, Release contest running from 8am until 2pm. This will allow us some time to present awards to the winners and cook up some food afterwards. If you dont have that competitive need come join us anyways. There will still be plenty of fishing to do and it will be great to put some names to faces from people we chat with on the site.

Here is a link to the notice in the general forum.

Here is where we are meeting at.

    Google Map for Lions Levee.

And here is a video I found of Lions Levee on Youtube. Looks like it was taken in Oct a few years ago.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Lions Levee is in St. Paul Park not South St Paul. People might get confused with 494 access. Look forward to the event!

Do we bring our own food to grill or are you buying it and we just chip in?

Or are open to any ideas you guys have.

We will most like try to get a rough head count about a week in advance to help figure this out.

Yes definetly we want to hear what people think. So reply on-line or shoot one of us a pm. I did sound a little bit bossy in that post didn’t I? Sorry about that!

Jesse you should have no problem. Right where we are launching from there are wingdams up and down the river for miles. Hope you can make it!

I will try to make this event as well. Most likely not fishing all day though since my daughter will be along. I’d be fine with bringing something to share for the cookout.

C’mon! You can skip one saturday of grouse hunting. Do the GTG and I will take you grousing at my Dad’s place.

That is cool. You can be as serious about the fishing as you want to be. The GTG part afterword will be as much if not more fun!

We should have the contest rules up later today. If you cant make it for the entire day we would still be happy to see you. Joel and I are planning on hanging out around Lion Levee most of the day. Maybe a little shore fishing or hitting a few spots near the park.

    Contest Rules.

Please reply to the contest rules thread if you are planning on fishing it. This will give us a rough idea on how many to expect. Thanks.

Hey guys, sorry if I have a post somewhere else also??? I thought I submitted one but have no idea what happened and where it went…. Mike and Joel, thanks a ton for putting this together and taking the time you of your weekend to make it happen. It was a lot of fun and I hope it is something that we can do again. Thanks again!!!!

That bite was pretty tough for the walleyes yesterday. Everyone did a great job contacting fish and really it could have gone in any boats direction with that one big fish!! The bite should pickup here at some point in the next couple weeks and I hope to see you down there.

Here are the pictures of our top 5. We put 4 in the boat right away in the morning but had to battle for the last couple. I thought for sure someone would find a good group of older fish out there. Lots of white bass and smallies biting in between the walleyes so we had a great time!

What a great time! This was my first contest and it certainly makes things more exciting when there is a little more at stake then just wanting to get the fish in the net.

For sure a big thank you goes out to Joel and Mike for taking the time and effort to put this on. It was a great opportunity to meet some of the other pool 2’ers.

Looking forward to seeing you guys out there in the coming weeks!

What ended up taking big fish honors? I had a 28 inch walleye that day.
