I’m holding the Coulee News Outdoor section and it has a picture of Wisconsin Guide Eric Haataja holding a near state record 33lb. 6oz. Brown Trout caught from Milwaukee Harbor on Jan.1, ’04. I’ll try to get the picture posted soon.

    Oh my!

I caught two browns out of the Mississippi River this last week, not a terribly uncommon thing this time of year, but they didn’t look ANYTHING like that monster. Wow! Congrats to Eric Haataja.

I was out yesterday (3/26) for an hour and a half around lunchtime and also managed a very nice 18″ brown that hit a number 11 Rapala floater on a three way. Interestingly enough the fish hit a brown trout pattern that I’ve sometimes found effective for eyes and saugs. I guess that proves fish are cannibals if given the opportunity for a meal. Weather was beautiful with a bluebird sky but it didn’t look too good as far as the catching. When I put in at 10:30 lots of guys were coming off already due to lack of success.
