According radar estimates 10-15 inches of rain have fallen in the past 48 hours south of Dubuque. The Mississippi has risen 2 & 1/2 feet in 12 hours at Dubuque. Is it really that bad down there?

Channel 8 quad cities just said 9 to 10 has fallen with an estimate of 10 to 15 by the time it’s done. No matter, it’s still way too much! The Miss. River down here can handle it as long as the Iowa and Cedar drainage don’t get much.
Best of luck to those in the flood prone areas up north.

We’ve been getting off and on smaller amounts in the last couple weeks and no gully washers like you guys got. The cedar and Iowas up some, about 2′ over normal for the cedar but not high by any means, there won’t be any change in volume from around here coming your way Herb, I haven’t heard what the skunks doing. Just heard this areas gotten 15.54″ for the month of July, broke the previous record set in 1964 by 4″.

4 feet jump in 12 hours!?!?!?!?
we havent had “normal” conditions on p18 since late february.
still managing to catch a few, but normal flow sure would be nice for a change.

Yes it was bad, 4 Ft jump in River level in 8-12 hours, Lots of Flooded Basements, Lightning strikes, and closed roads/bridges. I had paperplate size chunks of asphalt floating past my house. Had to try 3 routes to get to work. I will also be heading north to fish!!

I keep my boat at the Ferry Landing by Galena. Went out fishing on Tuesday and had a great day fishing – stage was at 11’9. Went up this morning and had to launch my canoe to get to my dock. River was at 16’9″ with three to four feet of water over the parking area. River looks like chocolate milk with a ton of debris floating. Boat was o.k. – new bilge pump worked great! Many other boats sunk/sinking. River is suppose to drop to 13′ by this weekend but water conditions are terrible. Hwy 20 bridge over the Apple River [west of Elizabeth IL] is closed. Water went over the bridge and caused major damage. Hopefully they can get it open soon. We measured 14.3″ at Stockton IL. Be careful on the water.
