Been thru the little DNR fish book and nothing looks “just right.” WIsh the fin was up but this thing fought like crazy and I wanted to put it back quick. Caught pulling a jointed shad rap. Not foul hooked. Picked up two walleye in about an hour as well. My kid got the eyes, I got this…

Not sure about the fish but I think I have the exact same boat. Mine has that same red metal tag.

X2 Buffy, plenty of them on pool 2. Looks like a nice night out on the river.

Thanks fellas. It’s always a nice night on the river! Flow is up and lots of trash & debris on the Minneapolis shoreline.

If you think there’s lots of trash on the Minneapolis shoreline…there is. But migrate closer to the downtown core and it’s littered with trash and “human debris”… eek

Congrats on the “white buffalo” bow

Here’s one from last weekend….absolute tanker. She shook in the net and that resulted in pick 2. Little ice and a pliers and I was back in action.

Ouch, you get that out yourself? That’s awfully close to tendons I wouldn’t have wanted to mess with.

Your guys pics get the colors of those things way better, really cool fish.

Yeah Matt that’s impressive — both the hook removal and the fish.

Always a guessing game on the river as to what’s on the end of that line. I figured this was a decent sheep when it hit. Didn’t even consider the possibility of a big walleye because let’s face it guys, I ain’t that good OR that lucky.

Maybe Their lips get more protruded and uglier as the fish gets bigger because the mouth on my little guy is significantly less extreme than either of the other 2 photos in this thread. That’s one of the things that had me questioning my ID.

That’s a smallmouth buffalo. I have caught a few also and had them chase cranks right up to my feet. Crazy behavior for a rough fish, right? The first two I caught were on a medium and med/light rod with 6# braid- took 35 and 45 minutes to land the fish, respectively. Here is a pic from a year or so ago.

I’m kind of an idiot sometimes. My wife was out of town and I had a babysitter so I wasn’t gonna stop fishing.

I tried wrapping line around it and yanking it out but after 2 unsuccessful tries I grabbed the pliers and just yanked.

At least I was smart enough to clip off the others hooks before I yanked.
