Heading out tomorrow on pool 4. Haven’t been out for a week. Expecting faster current and higher water. Finally got my father to come out for his first open water trip. Looking to see if things have changed much? It’s the river so im guessing so. I’m only fishing plastics and blades. Please PM or post here to help a fellow river guy.

I haven’t been down for a week but I hear it’s pretty dirty. Couple trees have been spotted floating. Nothing to stop a guy from fishing.

Just need to look for the slower (and cleaner) water.

Well Brian that’s what I found today. Plenty dirty and walleyes were hard to come by. On the other hand white bass and sheep head were plentiful.

I was out on Pepin yesterday and it was very dirty with some very large trees moving through. Didn’t look for any walleyes though so not sure on the bite. Did find a couple smallies.

Fished Friday and Saturday, I’m a beginner on the river and it was my dads first ever visit to pool 4. We fished spots from the dam down to the lake, using jig/plastics, 3 ways, and long lineing cranks. Threw back a few small walleye and sauger, lost a 22-24″ sauger at the net, and brought home some meat Friday. Tried for pan fish Saturday afternoon with no luck.

Fished most of the day on Saturday the 22nd. Stayed primarily on the wisconsin side between the Y Camp and Pepin. Was able to planer board in 4 pike and three real small walleye <14″. Went over to the mouth of the lake near Camp Lacupolis and was able to pick up a 24″ largemouth on a planer as well.

Water was real high, dirty, and moving fast. 51-55* water surface temperature. Not sure if I just didn’t get on the walleye or if they just aren’t here here. Hoping for a better walleye bite in a couple weeks.

The pike in the picture was brought in with this smaller pike in it’s mouth along with my flicker minnow.. they were definitely hungry Saturday morning! Lol

Haha, honestly I wish I would have gotten a picture. I’m by no means a bass fisherman. Never have been. We got it to the boat, threw it on the stick and sent it back right away. It wasn’t til later that evening we realized what we threw back without a picture! Oh well. It was fun anyways
