Just wanted to give a quick report on what we are seeing. Yesterday 2/13 we had several boats catch 15 plus keepers per person. Yet of course there were some Zeros had as well.

Dragging jigs with plastics and vertical jiggin with plastics seemed to be the most productive techniques. The bite is definately stronger early and late in the day. Dont be afraid to fish shallow , less than 13′, not as many fish in there but the size is considerably nicer.

With the upcoming forecast I am sure everyone is going to want to get their boats out. Please remember they all just want to have a good time and be patient. The lines will get long at times but we always keep them moving as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Also, please consider releasing some of the larger fish (20″ plus in my boat) and any obvious females. We know not everyone will but if some consider doing this it will only help with our future in this fishery. Plus , those 14″ sauger are delicious!

Good Luck and please let us know how you do.

Fished on Sunday, Feb. 19. Launched at Hagar City ramp around 6:30 AM. Water temp 35.6 deg. Headed to Pool 4 dam area to start. About 30 boats in the dam side and another 30+ in the lock area below the island. Fished for 6 hrs and not a single bite. Dragging ringworms, and Dubuque rigs with plastics in 10 to 16 fow both slow drift downstream and slow troll upstream. Lots of boats arrived all morning. Saw two fish caught. Expected a much hotter bite but such is fishing. Was great to get out on the water in a boat.

We also fished a half day Sunday and had very slow fishing. Ended with 4 walleyes and 1 sauger all of which were under 13 inches. Tried a few different locations and the only place we caught fish was downstream towards Baypoint. Off all the boats only saw a few other fish caught. Still a nice day to be back on open water.
