I’m not much for posting reports on the forum anymore, but my obligatory one for the season is below. As always… I’ll gladly reciprocate more details and reports from every outing via PM for anyone who wants to swap as the season goes on. A few years ago a couple people were butt hurt that I mentioned releasing legal fish and promoting selective harvest in my reports. Now they don’t have to hear it anymore throughout the season.
We worked the can line for an hour and a half and couldn’t really find much for size. We probably caught a dozen or so saugers and walleyes combined long lining #5 shad raps on the edge of the channel. Colors were hard to pin down but blue chrome probably brought the most fish. We pulled some plastics slowly by point no point on fish we marked with no takers to show except one that came unhinged at the boat. We then decided to pull cranks in 10-13′ here and see if they’d cooperate. We nabbed a few more and decided to call it a day. We kept 4 fish between 2 guys but probably caught 10 or so that were 15-18″. Big fish was a released 22″ walleye. Water temps were all over. I saw 50 degrees and I saw 58 degrees…with most primarily in the low 50s. We were on the water for only about 3 hours and the wind was getting to be a pain. The rest of the afternoon was spent looking for morels with comparable mediocre luck.
