The Walleye and sauger bite has been steadily picking up for the past 7 days. Saturday some boats found success from the Vermillion river all the way to Lake City using every technique you could name. Of course, others struggled, myself included. Sunday the bite was solid for every boat I spoke with. Some area were mainly sauger while areas downstream of red Wing produced great numbers of Walleyes with several fish over 25″ being reported. The river is dropping at a nice steady rate and is still running pretty clean. This is shaping up for one of the best fall bits we have seen in a few years.
The next few weeks should be great fishing. Please consider releasing the larger fish and egg laden females after a couple of grip and grin photos. Good luck to all of you who make it down.
Thank You
