I know that walleyes rule supreme on pool 4, but…
I’ve caught some pretty decent northerns and they’re a blast in that current!
So does anyone specifically target them? I never seem to hear anything about it (maybe that answers my question)

It’s primetime for big pike, cast the back waters and bays, some you can troll shallow running baits, sucker minnows also work I guess pretty much anything will work, it’s probably the best time to catch that trophy

There are a few that target them each year. Since 2008 or ’09 they’ve exploded in population due to the high water years I’m told.

When I bank fish 4, I don’t use live suckers as that seems to be pike candy (even at night) and they tend to swallow the bait hook and all.

Heck, I had a friend hook a 3 pounder fishing with stink bait a few years ago!

I like to release all of them but more so when they are double digits.

Funny you should mention this today as I was talking to a guide boat yesterday that was targeting them and had some luck.

I have yet to catch a pike on P4. Would really like to get into some because I wanted to try pickling this year. Plus they taste good anyways.

I’ve seen some big pike caught on P4, but none by me. Only pike I’ve ever had out there was my personal smallest, under 10″. Caught right off the dock with a crank at Evert’s one night when staying in the cabins…

I heard from the gate (facing North, the left side where the boats travel through) down to the Y is good in the spring.

I’ve caught many big pike on pool 4. None on purpose. All released.

    Sure are fun.

Cast the creek mouths that feed into the lake. The marinas right now would be good too as well as backwaters.

I’ve caught a couple upper 30 inch pike on pool 2 pulling cranks. Going to be out there tomorrow so might give them a shot.
