Fishing on Pool 4 HAS been picking up. Was able to make two
trips this last week, and planning at least two for this week.
Have been using hairjigs with minnow from 18′ to 24 feet.
Water temps have been 39 to 40. Water visibility still is a little
too clear at about 18 inches. The few rains this weekend and this
    week will help out.
The first Sauger is my friend Steve with the biggest Sauger I heard of
this week at 20 1/4 inches, wonderful fish.
Next two are both 19 1/2 inch Saugers, and the last was the little
snow last Monday I had to deal with before hooking up the boat. (6 inches).
It is sure nice to see some bigger Saugers finally showing up after a
few years of seeing basically NONE.

The next two weeks the river WILL be exploding.
IT IS time to get out there.

    Nice report Jack!

I’ve missed you at the resort. Looks like Steve was kicking sauger butt too!

    Went yesterday with 2 friends.
    Overall nothing going.
water temp was 50, up from 43 on Tuesday.
and very strong cold front and stronger winds made for
    brutal conditions.
Spawn will definitely be going now with those temps
    and the moon.
    good luck out there.

I have never fished Pool 4 but have been meaning to.
Can someone let me know where to launch a boat there?
Prefer the Minnesota side but Wisconsin side is also OK.
    Thanks!

…EVERTS is on the Wi side a couple miles up stream of Red Wing. When cross the river at red wing go to the next bridge and take left a soon as you cross the bridge. Right at the Mr. Sippi bar and camp ground. Now you are only 2 miles down stream from EVERTS… …rrr

I guess I didn’t think about giving the exact directions…. But there they are.
    Good luck!

    Great. Thanks for the help.

Are the walleye straight off the launch in that general vicinity or will I need to cruise up or down stream? My boat doesn’t have much rang so I like to launch as close to possible to where I’ll be fishing. I ran out of fuel on Peppin last summer. No fun at all.

I run a 25hp and have zero issues. The dam is maybe 2miles up and town is maybe 4 miles down with spots being everywhere in between. My distances may be a little off but the point he is you don’t need a huge fast boat to fish there.
