Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
I have not had much to report with this run of weather we are experiencing. All I can think is that when the weather breaks there is going to be a lot of fish that have not seen a bait for over 2 weeks. As of today the ramps are froze in and we do not plan to reopen them until Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018. The fuel and labor involved just do make sense considering nobody is this brave! They will be Open Wednesday afternoon, Thursday Morning. If you are planning to come down our lower ramp is open and available to use.
Ice fishing in the area has been ok.
Frontenac pond has been producing some Northern Pike as well as Panfish. reports of 8+” of ice there as of today.
Lake Pepin on the MN side has 3-5″ of ice. I actually just had my first report from there and it was slow.
Marinas in Red Wing have 8″ of ice and there are a few Crappies and Bluegills being caught.
Vermillion River backwaters have had spotty success but when you find them they tend to be nice fish.
