Has anyone been out on pool 4 lately? I have the day off Friday and am going to head to everets for one last time on open water for the season. Then it’s onto ice fishing.

Any recent reports are appreciated! !!

Hey Matt, according to the weather man you picked a good weekend with temps in the 30’s.

Not sure if you saw the Turkey Combo Results

Vertical, dragging and sticks seemed to have the best results.

If I was going out, and I’m not…I would be using a Superdoo with the “find bottom, raise 2-3 inches and hold steady while I count to 15” method.

But I’ll be the first to point out, I don’t fish for them…things. )

I was out Sunday for just a few hours up by the dam. It was really windy and cold however we caught fish it was not as hot and heavy as it usually was for us but it still was a great time. We managed to bring home 1 limit. We used jig and minnow and my other buddy used a sonar. Nothing big but some good eaters. By the look of the forecast u will have great weather.

the fish are still there and biting. we were out last sat and caught about 2doz. nothing huge biggest fish was 16 n 17″
caught fish every from the Y to the dam, from 15′-32FOw
everytime we got a lil deeper then 32fow “mostly by accident” we didnt get a bite except for a couple of channel. one was aobut 8lbs so that was a cool fight

i know that seems super broad but really didnt seem to have one particular area do better then another for us.
    jigs/fathead (orange jigs)
paddle-tails or pulse R’s in gold/chart tail or pearl/chart tail worked for us.
    bigger fish came on plastics

just like BK stated, the vertical lift n hold (3″-12″ off bottom) bite worked best but did catch sum fish draggin slowly upstream as well

Thanks guys!!! With the weather forecast I just can’t resist one last outing. Right now I’m about 90% sure I’m going as i still have one obstacle up in the air. If I make it I’ll surely report back.

We fished last Saturday and Sunday had really good luck at dam with dubuque rigs .4mph up stream. We fished both side but bigger fish were on WI side with the #’s of fish on MN side. We should have fished the Turkey Combo but just wanted to fish for fun. Our first 2 walleyes and saugers would have put us in money and with 6 fish may have even won it, who knows did not enter even with BK & Kari trying to talk me into it. We tried 3 ways with Rapalas at dam and below Y with only 1 legal. We fished the dubuque rigs in 18 to 23fow. Sunday we were on water early why i DO NOT KNOW fished till noon had 4 legal and bunch short fish on MN side. had to keep switching poles due to eyes icing up so bad even had to hand over hand 1 fish. Trolling moto would not even run prop frooze soild, did see 2 other boats fishing at dam Sunday. The ramps were AWESOME as usaul so cant wait to get back up there yet this year.

Ya know Hv? I hate saying “I told you so”. )

Superdoo’s should be going good now too. Super easy to fish and likely the most under fished bait on the river.

Made it down friday. Fishing was ok. 30+fow up by the dam seemed to be the best bite. Stayed till dark and had a nice flurry at sundown. Minnows seemed to be preferred to plastics. Saw many others catching plenty of fish also. Might have to give it one more try after looking at the extended forecast.
