Hi Guys, just a quick report.. I took the girls down to P3 on Saturday for a night of camping. My brother and his wife came with also. We wanted to fry some fish while we were down there and had no issues getting legal eyes. By far the best thing going was crawlers.. Rigged on slow death or jigged in shallow fast water. 3-6 fow was key. The river was low from what I usually fish in on P3 but there was still some flow left in it. We fished it last Tuesday also and caught a couple fish on crank baits but don’t think I would do anything but run crawlers right now from what we seen on Saturday. We only fished for 1.5 hours and caught 5 legals and just as many shorts. Also got the normal batch of sheeps and smallies mixed in.

Thanks for the report! How much and in what ways does pool 3 differ from pool 2? I have never fished pool 4, but would love to try 3. Thanks again!

    P3 is a lot different….

1st thing is the wingdams. Its hard to hit one on pool 2 but don’t trust any of them on p3 or p4 when the water is at summer levels!!

It is going to be a whole different bite than my report above now.. Toss that one in the campfire with all the water coming in. If you do fish pool 3 I would wait a good week or two. Pool 2 has not crested yet and will not till next weekend. The bite always get fuzzy when that water comes up so fast. Once it levels off you should be able to find a good bite on those shoreline seams.

Actually tried walleye fishing for 4 hrs yesterday afternoon. Been a while.

Caught about a dozen walleye/sauger outside the main current.

Ran small spinner blades with small plastic grubs.

    That tactic played out on
    P3 & Croix.

    Several other species caught too.
    8-24 fow.

Usually picked up one dragging over some of the wing dams. I love my home made snake weights. Snag free!!!
