Heading to fish pool 3 this weekend. Planning to put in at the Sturgeon Lake Rd landing. I don’t see many people commenting about pool 3 and I am thinking there may be a good reason for that. Any advice about pool 3 or suggestions on other places to go would be appreciated. This is my first trip fishing the river. I hope it is the first of many.

    Thanks in advance.

    Where’s pool 3? sleeping

My advice, is simply that the flow in pool 3 is about what you’d see in the winter, it was also this flow rate for a week or two in July if you had any success then.

This puts fish closer to main channel locations for their desired current flow. 1st & 2nd wing dams in a set should have fish. Flats on the inside bends 14-20′.

Since you’re going to launch in sturgeon lake, topside of LD3 is loaded with fish- , -20 feet in rocks.

Thanks for the advice. Do you think I should consider moving down to P4?

It’s only a lockage away if 3 isn’t working for you.

Caught two white bass (first for me) and two eyes (14″ and 21.5″). Nothing in pool 4, but we spent most time fishing pool 3. Hotter than heck out there today.
    Thanks for your comments.
